Join the Choir

Music and song give voice to the soul. At St. Michael's, this is a living tradition. For centuries. Join us if you like to sing and sing well.
A large repertoire, many opportunities to perform, inspiring rehearsals and, above all, a love of music - in the service of the Most High. This is what characterizes the Michaelsmusik. Anyone and everyone can join in making music here with heart and mind.
The St. Michael's Choir is not only looking for dedicated fellow singers, but is also committed to you, to each individual voice: We offer free voice training to develop your vocal skills so you can learn to reach your full potential. Michael's Music and its motivated leadership team are here to help you hone your skills and grow your musical and vocal ability.

We rehearse weekly, either separately by voice groups,
- Male voices Wednesdays from 17:15 to 18:45,
- women's voices on Thursdays from 17:15 to 18:45,
or together in
- Tutti rehearsals on Thursdays from 17:15 to 18:45.

We perform what we have rehearsed in church services and concerts. The choir often sings at High Mass on Sundays at 9:00 a.m., but also on holidays and in concerts. We sing most masses with the St. Michael's orchestra, which consists of professional musicians from our music-loving city, and with the St. Michael's organist. Our repertoire includes music from the Renaissance to our own time. This includes, of course, all the masses of Mozart and Haydn, but also chants from Bach to the music of John Rutter. During the performances there is great cinema in St. Michael - but not on the screen, but live.

Choir & Orchestra of St. Michael's

The choir and orchestra of St. Michael's have by far the longest and richest tradition of all the musical ensembles connected to our church. They can look back at a history that spans more than 400 years, starting with the consecration of the altars in 1592, which was accompanied by then maestro di capella Orlando di Lasso. Today the choir and orchestra are essential elements in the great concert of all musical ensembles at St. Michael's.

Chamber Choir

The Chamber Choir of St. Michael's was founded in 2006 to provide music for the festive arrangement of services during Holy Week. According to ancient traditions, all instrument fall and remain silent in the liturgy between Holy Thursday and the Easter night; the only music left is vocal music. The choir continues this tradition by dedicating itself mainly to a capella literature from the 16th to 21st century.
